Oliver Smith
It wasn't really much of a surprise that Oliver Smith was the first artist we signed to Anjunabeats - he went to university with Jono and Paavo and his first submission (Aspekt "Mobetta") was so good. "Mobetta" helped us establish very early on that Anjunabeats wouldn't be a one-trick pony: it wasn't trance. Together with Mark Pledger he produced some of the biggest hits on the label like "White", "Northern Lights" and "Believe" and their remixes were always outstanding, like "Amsterdam" and "No One On Earth". As a solo artist Olie has gone on to become nothing short of essential for the label in every year since we started, the only artist apart from us to feature tracks on every single Anjunabeats Volume series release. In recent years, if anything, he's got even better. His set at ABGT250 was a highlight of the show and his debut artist album is sounding every bit as good as the ridiculously long wait would suggest. His mix features tracks from that hugely anticipated release together with tracks from the label he's had a hand in or an appreciative eye on.

Mat Zo
Mat Zo came to Anjunabeats in 2008 as a teenage drum and bass producer of some renown who wanted to try something different. And he's been doing that successfully ever since. A true artist, unencumbered by genre or labels, his music is always fresh, exciting and rewarding to listen to the first time or the hundredth time. Mat doesn't do ordinary, only extraordinary: "Superman", "Rebound" (with Arty), "24 Hours", "Pyramid Scheme" with Chuck D, "Synapse Dynamics" and "Easy" (with Porter Robinson) are label classics and his debut album, 'Damage Control', released on Anjunabeats in 2013, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album. Live, Mat is always exciting and has performed at three of our landmark events, TATW400 in Beirut, ABGT001 in Bangalore and at ABGT100 Madison Square Garden. Mat started his own label "Mad Zoo" but returned to Anjunabeats, the most-loved prodigal son, last year. His new studio album is ready for release and we couldn't be happier with it. Mat's mix takes a rather unselfish view of the label's history - none of these tunes are his - but we can't wait to hear what his take on our last 20 years has been.

Sunny Lax
Sunny Lax (Levente Márton) hails from Hungary and since 2006 has been one of our most important Anjunafamily members, and certainly the most prolific. Making music that is always exciting and beautiful, he has simply churned out hit after hit and gotten better and better and better. Solo tracks like “P.U.M.A.”, “Reborn”, “Isla Margarita” and “Enceladus” — together with well-judged collaborations like “Out Of This World” (with Solex) and “Black Water” (with Genix) — have graced our sets and our compilation CDs, and have produced a huge amount of admiration for Sunny among the Anjunafamily. His unforgettable set with Genix at ABGT250 had one of the best reactions of the night. In 2020, he released a five-track EP called “End Of Our Time”, a very mature collection of impressive songs, and an exciting indication of where Sunny Lax is heading next. Sunny's mix is a combination of a few of his own songs (he's always so modest!) and some of his favourites from the label's 20 year history.

Jaytech
Jaytech hails from Australia and has been with us since 2007, gracing both Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep with his unique, groovy sound. He's released two albums with us; 'Everything Is OK' was Anjunadeep's first artist album in 2008, and he mixed 'Anjunadeep 02', '03' and '04' with James Grant. His second album, 'Multiverse', came out on Anjunabeats in 2012 as his sound got bigger. He's remixed a number of Above & Beyond releases like “Formula Rossa”, “Surrender” and “Home” as well as the OceanLab tracks “Breaking Ties” and “If I Could Fly”. Jimbo's infectious good humour shines through in all his music, a selection of which appear in his 20 years mix.

Maor Levi
Another child prodigy, Maor Levi started making music at age 11 and signed “Lital” to Anjunadeep at 15. And boy, were we blown away. Not one to be hemmed in either, he is equally adept in a number of genres, producing deep house, trance, progressive and—as a member of Bad Royale—dance hall music. Bad Royale's EP of Caribbean Above & Beyond covers is worth a listen. Maor has been a semi-regular contributor to the label over the years, but always an important one. “Reflect”, “Chasing Love” (with Ashley Tomberlin), and “Infatuation” (with Raul Seberdi) are label classics, and his remixes of “Memorial” (by Ad Brown feat. Kerry Leva) and our own “Liquid Love” are the winners of the 20 years “Stuck In The Box” trophy, remaining playable for years after their submission. Maor introduced ilan Bluestone to the label, and together they've had numerous hits, like “Everybody” and “Can You…” (with Gid Sedgwick). This year, they formed Elysian with Emma Hewitt, and the results—like with everything Maor does—are awesome. Maor's mix is as eclectic and satisfying as his musical productions and features some great, lesser-known gems.

Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous Oxide is Krzysztof Prętkiewicz from Poland, a prolific producer who has created some of our label's most memorable, big room tracks. An essential part of our label's sound during the late 00s, tracks like “Aurora”, “Downforce”, “Show Me” and “Morning Light” were staples in our radio show and live sets—melodic and powerful. His remixes were always essential club tools and eagerly awaited; his reworks of “Anjunabeach”, “Beautiful Together”, “Untitled Audio” and “Nothing Ever Lasts” did serious damage in our sets for many years. In 2010 he released an accomplished artist album on Anjunabeats in 2010 entitled 'Dreamcatcher', containing more hits like “Follow You” (with Aneym), “Endorphine” and “Supra”. He also curated 'Anjunabeats Worldwide 04' with Maor Levi in 2012. Chris continues to be a successful trance producer and is a regular fixture on Group Therapy Radio. His 20 years mix is energetic and uplifting, and features many of his essential tunes.

ilan Bluestone
Ilan appeared in our studio one day in 2012 when Maor Levi was working with us in London. He'd popped in to see how Maor worked and to say "hi". Ilan was a cheery, confident chap and Maor really rated him as a producer and invited him to submit a track for the 'Anjunabeats Worldwide' compilation he was putting together. That track was "Namaste", his debut track on Anjunabeats. What followed was a nearly constant stream of melodic, powerful and well-produced tracks and remixes that became fixtures in our sets—some remixes being preferred to our own mixes at times. At least one of his productions appears in pretty much every Above & Beyond DJ set. He went on to mix his own comp, 'Anjunabeats Worldwide 05' in 2015, and continued to write and record so many hit tunes ("Sinai", "Big Ben", "43", "Spheres" and his new tracks with Elysian, to name but a few bangers) before releasing his first artist album, 'Scars', in 2018. Over the same period his friendship with Maor Levi resulted in a slew of banging tunes and remixes such as "On Our Own", "Can You" and "Everybody", and he collaborated with Jerome Isma-Ae with equally fabulous results: "Tension" & "Under My Skin" are both classics. By this time his live career had really taken off and he was always in demand as a remixer for other labels. He delivered a blistering set at ABGT300 in Hong Kong the same year. In 2020 he finally put a ring on Maor Levi with the launch of trance supergroup Elysian (with vocalist Emma Hewitt), and started work on his second album with long-term collaborators Giuseppe De Luca, EL Waves and Ellen Smith. His 20 years mix contains a hefty chunk of his own productions (as it should), alongside an eclectic mix of personal favourites, from Tinlicker to Seven Lions and Daniel Kandi. Enjoy!

Grum
Graeme Shepherd heralds from Glasgow in Scotland, where they pronounce his real name like his artist name. He already had an impressive career before he signed to Anjunabeats, his debut 2010 album Heartbeats earned him 'Best Electronic Artist of the year' from iTunes UK. He'd already delivered a prestigious BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix and was touring the world. We eventually managed to attract him to the label in 2015 after chatting with him over a glass of whisky one night after a gig we were both playing at, and we are so glad we did. It was clear from hearing him play and talking to him that his roots go back to the very start of the clubbing scene and he has great respect for the trailblazers who conjured trance and progressive sounds out of house music. He was talking our language. Grum neatly filled a hole in our label between Deep and Beats and rapidly started to fill it in with some awesome progressive trance tunes, inspiring a resurgence of the sound with his label mates. You'll find some plum examples of Grum's dark, driving twist on the progressive sound in his 20 Years mix. Keep them coming, mate!

Fatum
Fatum came to us as an amalgamation of several artists we'd followed for a number of years; Bruce Karlsson had released on Anjuna as part of Norin & Rad, Daniel Davis as part of Judah, Bill Hamel was a GRAMMY nominated producer and remixer and Chad Newbold had a keen A&R ear. We've known Bruce, in particular, for many years: N&R toured with us during the Group Therapy era and performed at ABGT001 in Bangalore. We were pleased to see Artificial appear in this 20 Years mix, N&R's short-lived project with our pal Andrew Bayer. The group's first solo release on the label was 'Mandala' back in 2015 and they've delivered smash after smash ever since, from 'Love On A Real Train' - the dramatic opener of our ABGT200 set - 'Chocolate', 'Agera' with Nitrous Oxide and 'Superfecta', to name a few. Fatum make tracks that demand a big stage and they've contributed tracks to every ABGT milestone show since their inception. Unfortunately we lost Bill too soon, passing away in 2018. He was a charming man, humble and grateful for the support the Anjunafamily had shown him. We know he'd love this mix and to see how Fatum continue to go from strength to strength.

Kyau & Albert
We met Ralph Kyau and Steven Albert at ADE in 2002, and immediately recognised kindred spirits. They'd been running Euphonic since 1997 and had some really exceptional artists signed to their label, such as Mirco de Govia and Ronski Speed. Their records were well-made, mixed perfectly, and even mastered in-house. That relentless quality control has always been a hallmark of everything they do together, and when a new Kyau & Albert sound emerged in the late naughties—slower, chunkier, groovier—the whole world followed. With their own imprint doing so well they have little need for Anjunabeats, but we like to have them come stay once in a while: “Velvet Morning”, “Kiksu”, “Glühwürmchen" and “Anphonic” are all Anjuna classics. They work tirelessly to build and maintain the trance scene in their homeland, and we tip our hats to their dedication and commitment. Their mix contains a satisfying chunk of their awesome tunes together with other label favourites. Danke!

Myon
Márió Égető has been in our orbit for many years. With fellow Hungarian Shane 54, Myon has contributed many incredible remixes to our label over the years: the Myon & Shane 54 remix of Velvetine 'The Great Divide' (which partnered M&S54 with Aruna) just had to get a spin in our recent ABGT400 celebrations. 'Not A Lot Left', one of two originals they've released on Anjuna, is a classic progressive cut which you may recall from Mat Zo's 20 Years mix earlier this year. Myon parted ways with Shane 54 to focus on his solo productions and has been firing on all cylinders ever since. Of late, he's released three great songs on Anjunabeats with longtime collaborator Alyssa Feudo: 'Omen In The Rain', 'Perfect Ghost', 'The Darkest Light'. As a remixer, he's still on top of his game… we think his remix of Gabriel & Dresden's 'You' with Elevven will attest to that. We've always admired Myon's dedication to his craft and can't wait to see where he goes next. Myon's 20 Years mix is hard, and fast. Play it at night and play it loud.

Super8 & Tab
Finland's Miika Eloranta (Super8) and Janne Mansnerus (DJ Tab) have been part of our family for decades. When we first met them, they were both accomplished club DJs and music producers in their own right. They were also friends of Paavo, our very own Finnish wunderkind. In the early days, Miika was recording with Paavo as Aalto. Janne had his own single on Anjunabeats, "Verso". Miika and Janne began collaborating on music in 2005. The magic was instant. "First Aid", the debut Super8 + DJ Tab release, was operatic. It's a style that they've continued to develop over their 15-year career. And what a career it has been. Their debut album, 'Empire', turns 10 this year, and the likes of "Black Is The New Yellow" and "Irufushi" have stood the test of the time. Super8 & Tab's 20 Years mix is heavily influenced by the first decade of our label. Thank you Miika and Janne for all the years of companionship, on the road and in the studio.

Jason Ross
Jason has been creating dance music since he was a teenager. 'Elements', Jason's 2015 single on Anjunabeats, was a strong debut, but it was his collaboration with Wrechiski, 'Atlas', that really got people talking. The first night we met Jason was at Madison Square Garden, just after we'd played three of his records to the world (including 'Atlas'). He was a charming fellow and he's been on fire ever since, dropping singles like 'Cairo', 'Me Tonight' and 'Valor'. Jason's tunes always have a place in our sets. In 2017, Jason's first collaboration with Seven Lions, 'Higher Love' feat. Paul Meany, signalled the start of a bold, new chapter for Jason's sound. Their back-to-back set at Group Therapy 250 sealed the deal: Jason is now a regular fixture on Seven Lions' Ophelia imprint. No matter what style he's turning his attention to, his productions are always energetic, ambitious and polished. Jason's mix includes some of his own label contributions and other, more recent highlights from our label's history.

Andrew Bayer
It says in his biography that Andrew Bayer was forced into piano lessons by his parents. One can imagine a cartoon in The New Yorker with a young, reticent Mozart being ordered to the piano by his dad. Andrew clearly took to music like a fish to water, but to complete that analogy properly he would have to be a flying fish, equally gifted whatever the medium. Releasing music professionally since the age of 15, he first came to our attention as part of transatlantic trance duo Signalrunners, with Scottish producer Alan Nimmo. After high school he went to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston and found it inspiring and productive, with the Signalrunners output during that time becoming increasingly innovative and exciting. "Electric Sheep" (a nod to Bladerunner, his favourite movie), "These Shoulders" and "Meet Me In Montauk" are all groundbreaking Anjunabeats classics to this day. His first solo release was his awesome remix of OceanLab's "Secret" in 2009, and for his final year project at Berklee he began working on an album. The tracks he was making bore little relation to the music he'd been doing as part of Signalrunners, but at Anjunabeats that's never a problem if the music is great—and "It's Artificial" was beyond great. Andrew has never "stayed in his lane", and this trait—along with his extraordinary talent and positive vibes—led to us inviting him to London to be our in-house production manager. Whilst waiting for his visa to be approved, Andrew spent the year making some incredible club tracks with Boom Jinx ("To The Six", "Keyboard Cowboys" and "Fracture", among many) and finishing his first album, which was released in 2011. His second album again bore little relation to what had preceded it and, again, was extraordinary. Filled with highlights "Gaff's Eulogy", "Lose Sight" and "Need Your Love" (marking the start of his long relationship with Norwegian vocalist Ane Brun), 'If It Were You We'd Never Leave' (2013) is one of Anjuna's most-played albums. Post album two, Andrew had a purple patch of club bangers ("Once Lydian", "Bullet Catch", "Mirth Mobile"), "Superhuman" with Danish singer Asbjørn and yet more club monsters ("Celestial", "Signs Of The Fall" with Berklee friend Alison May). For his third album Andrew again changed lanes, deciding to solidify his songwriting chops with Ane Brun and Alison May. The result, considered by some as his magnum opus, was 'In My Last Life'— a collection of beautiful love songs that again owed very little to the dance floor that Andrew is often associated with, instead drawing its inspirations from influences as far and wide as Talk Talk, Aphex Twin, Kate Bush and Atoms For Peace. The reason for this long, yet still incomplete biographic introduction to Andrew's 20 years of Anjuna mix is that his mix contains none of his own releases. And that's the measure of the man: we know from working with Andrew on Above & Beyond music these last eight (Grammy-nominated) years that he is refreshingly selfless, and as excited about your ideas as you are And as excited about your ideas as you are. And he has great ears. Please enjoy the Anjuna releases that have inspired him the most.

Genix
Hailing from the Midlands, Genix has been in our orbit since 2010. He's a chap who appreciates an Ibiza sunset (perhaps with a cocktail in hand) as much as we do, and, like many of the artists featured in this series, has been a student of trance music for many, many years. Damo released music on several other U.K. labels before joining our family with a remix of 7 SKIES 'Caffeine'. He got our attention with his flair for layered bass arrangements, which he showcased on a 2011 collaboration release with Mike Koglin ('Helion' and 'Dyno'). His take on 'Home' cemented his place as a label regular, and he has since delivered a continuous stream of wonderful, melodic club instrumentals like 'Durban', 'Lima' and 'Run' - the latter brings back fond memories of one particular Above & Beyond show at Ultra Miami. Damo pushes himself. Whether he's in the studio, breaking world records or DJing at Everest Base Camp, this is an artist who always puts the work in. Of late, he's been channelling Randy Katana and Gat Decor, producing bass-heavy hitters like 'Death Valley' and 'Kill Switch'. Where will Genix go next? We can't wait to find out.

ALPHA 9
Russia's Artem Stolyarov. Whether he's ARTY or ALPHA 9, he's always been sensational. Corentin, Anjuna's technology boffin, put Artem on our radar. A teenager at the time, he was writing simple, pure melodies that got stuck in your head. ARTY properly arrived on Anjunabeats as part of 'Volume 8'. "The Wonder" and "Rush" were both effortlessly catchy and euphoric. What is there to say about "Zara" and "Kate" that hasn't been said already? Sublime. His collaborations with Mat Zo also deserve a mention: "Rebound" broke new ground for our label and "Mozart" further refined that winning formula. Artem's live energy is unmatched in our label family. He's a proper rock star, complete with the bleached, blonde hair. We're a decade into our friendship now, and our next chapter together looks very bright indeed. Artem is in ALPHA 9 mode on this mix, which celebrates Anjuna's progressive side and includes records from Paul Keeley, Grum, Jaytech and Bart Claessen. Enjoy!

Gabriel & Dresden
We love Gabriel & Dresden. Their music inspired us and their remixes changed our map. Their first album was a masterpiece of bleeding-heart indie-electro that pulsed with the rarest thing in our scene: a clear and compelling personality. We all played the hell out of their tracks. Then they just stopped. Every time we saw them we’d beg them to do another album. There were always obstacles. When we heard about their 2016 Kickstarter campaign, we immediately sent money and followed their progress like the fans we are. We signed them to Anjunabeats. Their phenomenal second Anjunabeats album, ‘Remedy’, was released just as the world entered lockdown. While many (quite rightly) bemoaned the unfairness of it all, Dave and Josh went to work doing what they do best: connecting people. The supportive, optimistic and diverse community they have built around Club Quarantine on Twitch is, perhaps, their greatest work to date. This mix is a rollercoaster ride. Strap in!

Spencer Brown
Spencer Brown: a relatively recent addition to our family. His debut release, "Chalice", on Avicii’s LE7ELS is a favourite of ours from 2014 and it wasn’t long ’til we got in touch. A remix of Boom Jinx’s "The Dark" was Spencer’s official induction to the family. A quick stream of remixes followed (ilan Bluestone, Oliver Smith, Seven Lions and Jason Ross, and one of "Northern Soul") but it’s in his original productions where Spencer shines brightest. Prolific is a word that gets tossed around by the music press. How else can you describe an artist who debuts so much music in nearly every set he plays? On tour together, we would often find Spencer writing a track in the morning, tweaking it over dinner, and playing it live that evening. Spencer’s passion for the art of the long-form mix is something we also admire: ‘Illusion of Perfection’ and ‘Stream of Consciousness’ are wonderful albums that deserved to be listened to from the very start to the very end. His mix features our latest cross-pollination, Spencer’s long-awaited "Sun In Your Eyes" remix. Enjoy this terrific mixed journey from a master of the craft.

Audien
Nate Rathbun, with a sound as bright and engaging as the man himself, charmed us all with his 2012 label debut, ‘Eventide’. But it was to be ‘Wayfarer’, our set opener at ABGT001, that would pave the way for Audien's meteoric rise. It's everything that we love about the progressive trance sound of that era and became a cornerstone of our DJ sets. Follow-ups ‘Iris’ and ‘Hindsight’ were equally well received by the dancefloor, while ‘Higher’ (feat. Cecilia Gault) and ’Never Letting Go’ (alongside ARTY) remain gems in the catalogue. Nate's knack for an earworm set him on an astounding trajectory: ’Something Better’ with Lady A became a country-dance crossover hit; his remix of Bastille’s ‘Pompeii’ was an inescapable festival anthem. Anjuna is very proud of him. In Audien's mix, he's serving catalogue classics with a dollop of prog, sunny-side up.

Daniel Kandi
Since we started this series of celebration mixes, one name has kept cropping up in the comment section: Daniel Kandi. If you were at an Anjunabeats event anytime between the years 2005 and 2012, you'd have lost some time drenched in the euphoric and uplifting sound of Daniel Kandi. His records are seemingly designed to evoke the widest of smiles. Perhaps it's fond memories of 'Child' and 'Venice Beach' or of sweaty sing-a-longs to Daniel's peak-time reworks of songs like 'On A Good Day' and 'Can't Sleep' that spurred demand for a 20 Years mix. Well, here it is. Dan's selection features a previously unreleased remix of 'Sun In Your Eyes' and plenty of blissed out trance bangers from the archive. Eyes closed, hands in the air stuff.
