A Child Of The Times

British multi-instrumentalist, DJ and producer, Darren Tate, releases his latest single 'A Child Of The Times' on Anjunabeats following it's debut on Above & Beyond's compilation album 'Anjunabeats Volume 25' earlier this month.

Darren Tate has has an extensive career in music over the years, racking up twelve Top 40 UK singles as DT8 Project, Angelic with Judge Jules, Jurgen Vries, Orion and Citizen Caned. Alongside the releases from his various aliases he has also scored over 20 films. In 2022, the producer joined forces with Above & Beyond’s Jono Grant to form JODA. Released on Anjunabeats, their self-titled debut album has since seen over 10 million combined streams worldwide.

With his latest release, 'A Child Of The Times' Darren Tate is back with more impressive trance production. The song itself also has some great meaning behind it with the artist as well. "I wasn’t searching specifically for this story, but I do look for messaging that fits the bill. The very term "trance" is not an accident; the genre structurally mimics ancient methodologies used to induce altered states of consciousness, promote collective unity, and elevate the spirit. The idea of looking to the youth and the future in a positive way (the core principle of A Child Of The Times) connects to these principles."

Speaking of the vocal that plays throughout the track Tate explains "African music is also great because the physical drive of African drum circles to unite everyone's heartbeat in the room. I often also use melodies of Eastern and African spiritual chants as they elevate the mind. The breakdown and the 'drop' aren't just musical tricks; they are engineered tension and release, creating a shared moment of catharsis that leaves the crowd feeling deeply connected and universally positive."
