Anjuna mainstay Vladimir Ershov, aka PROFF, teams up with British producer Tim Green on their first downtempo collaboration, ‘Philos’ - the lead single from PROFF’s forthcoming 11-track LP, ‘Missing Places I’ve Never Been’, out 21 July on Anjunachill.
Hailing from the outskirts of Moscow, Ershov was raised in a musically-rich environment by a classical musician father. Yet it was electronic music that captured his imagination during his teenage years.
PROFF made his Anjuna debut in 2008 with 'My Personal Summer’, featured on Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats Volume 6. Since then, he’s become a staple on both Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep, known for his deep, organic productions and consistent resonance with the Anjuna community.
‘Missing Places I’ve Never Been’ marks PROFF’s first full-length downtempo release. What began as a four-track EP evolved into a personal journey of reflection and sonic exploration. Each of the album’s 11 tracks is inspired by a different place, memory or emotion, tracing Vlad’s path from his hometown to his current life in London.
Moving away from the ‘rules’ of dance music, the album explores slower tempos and atmospheric, textured soundscapes, influenced by ambient and psychedelic chill music. A different sound for PROFF perhaps, but just as considered and nuanced as his more uptempo productions.
‘Philos’, the first taste of this new direction, features British DJ and producer Tim Green - a prolific name in electronic music with a two-decade career spanning techno, house, and alternative pop under his alias Invisible Minds. Known for acclaimed remixes for Ben Böhmer, Friendly Fires, Sébastien Léger, Cassius, Seth Troxler and even Sir Paul McCartney; Tim’s touch adds depth to this new single’s layered, introspective atmosphere.
PROFF’s debut downtempo LP ‘Missing Places I’ve never Been’ lands on July 21 on Anjunachill. The album is also available on a limited run of vinyl copies, exclusive to the Anjuna Music Store.
