London-born composer, pianist and producer Laurel Violet returns with ‘at the walls of the garden EP’, a delicate and introspective four-track EP that offers moments of stillness and reflection.
Having made her Anjunachill debut in 2024, with the meditative solo piano piece ‘How To Forget’ on ‘Reflections 09’, Laurel continues to carve out her space in the neoclassical and ambient world. Since first releasing in 2020, she has accumulated over 2 million streams and garnered support from CLASH Magazine, BBC Radio London and more.
Outside her artist project, Laurel’s talents extend to composing for film and television. She has collaborated with Emmy and BAFTA-nominated composer Tandis Jenhudson on soundtracks for ITV, BBC One, and BBC Two, and has also written production music for Universal and scored several independent short films.
This new EP features four beautiful pieces inspired by the quiet details of everyday life. Speaking about the concept behind the release, Laurel shares:
“This EP is about small moments of peace. So often when I'm writing, it's about a specific feeling, but these pieces are not so much about myself but more about the things I love around me, like a garden, or waking up early to play the piano.”
Opening the record is ‘early morning thoughts’, a collaborative track with ambient producer Thomas Trueman. Though Laurel and Thomas have worked together on various sync and production projects over the years, this marks their first official release as artists. The track gracefully fuses Laurel’s emotive piano melodies with Thomas’ rich, ambient textures.
Laurel Violet ‘at the walls of the garden EP’ is out now on Anjunachill.
