Australian production duo Planet Of Souls collaborate with vocalist Samsaruh on the driving indie track ‘Beneath The Silence', the second single from their upcoming album ‘Lumiere’.
Planet Of Souls is the collaborative project of producers Paul Rogers and Tom Barlow, blending cinematic songwriting with electronic textures inspired by the ’90s and ’00s. Though the project is new, both bring significant pedigree: Rogers has collaborated with UNKLE, Sasha, Pete Tong and Gorillaz, earning support from BBC Radio 1 and SiriusXM, while Barlow’s productions have featured on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat imprint with support from Carl Cox. Since launch, Planet Of Souls have received coverage from BBC Radio 1, NOTION and DMY, with debut single ‘One’ featured in 'Greys Anatomy' in January 2026 and Netflix’s 'The Survivor', which reached #2 globally last year.
Samsaruh is an Australian vocalist, songwriter and producer whose work spans contemporary songwriting, electronic collaboration and cinematic sound. She has toured extensively across Australia, performing at Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival, Groovin the Moo and NYE on the Hill, and supporting artists including John Butler Trio, Birds of Tokyo, Dean Lewis, Peking Duk and San Cisco. Her music has topped triple j and US college radio charts, earning multiple #1 and “most played” placements.
‘Beneath the Silence’ sees Planet Of Souls team up with Samsaruh on a cinematic indie single built around rich instrumentation, dynamic arrangement and a sense of scale. The track combines live strings, textured production and a multi-part structure, drawing influence from artists spanning the 1960s through to the 1990s while remaining rooted in contemporary songwriting.
“‘Beneath the Silence’ took a long time to construct and actually began through a studio accident. Paul had written a MIDI sequence intended for a synth, but a sampled piano channel was still armed, triggering this fast, staccato piano pattern that sounded completely wrong - so we kept it. We ran it through guitar pedals to create the textures that became the foundation of the track. Paul later composed the string parts, which Jade MacRae orchestrated for the recording session. Structurally, the track is almost three pieces of music in one, influenced by artists we grew up with - from The Beatles to UNKLE, Radiohead, Queens of the Stone Age and Oasis. Samsaruh delivers a powerful vocal performance that matches the ambition of the track, and we feel very fortunate to work with an artist who brings such clarity and lyrical strength. With over a dozen instruments recorded, it was a hugely ambitious project - but one we’re immensely proud of.”
’Beneath The Silence’ is out now on Anjunachill.
