Matthias Vogt releases the deluxe version of his 10-track album Ten As One on Anjunadeep’s sister imprint Reflections, featuring 4 new tracks and edits of the original songs.
Matthias Vogt’s production journey is unconventional to say the least. His early influences came from church, jazz band and Frankfurt’s underground, so his music is a sonic melting pot. Over his decades-long career, Vogt has released dozens of albums under various aliases, including Motorcitysoul and [re:jazz], but his eponymous Matthias Vogt project is where his passion for electronic music, club culture and deep listening intertwine.
His first releases as Matthias Vogt were deep house productions on labels like Polytone Recordings, Saw Recordings and Komplex De Deep. His first release on Anjunadeep came out in 2015, a 3-track house EP that treads the line between hopeful and melancholy. His work took a turn in 2022 with the release of his Pianissimo album, which he describes as a political project. He took away the beats, the bass and the breaks and replaced them with slow-moving music accompanied by soundbites from climate change activists.
His Ten As One album was supposed to follow similar themes, but instead it developed into an album of exploration and collaboration. Vogt saw an opportunity to connect with some of his favourite artists, and teamed up with Johanna Klein, Hans Berg and Sato on several tracks. The result is a project that’s both collaborative and introspective, with each track bouncing back and forth between the artists until they landed on the perfect version.
The new version of the album features 4 brand new tracks, aptly named ‘One’ ‘Two’ ‘Three’ and ‘Four’. They are taken from a series of ambient jam sessions Matthias Vogt performed at Cream Studios in Frankfurt earlier this year.
